TIN MAN WITH A HEART

Martinsburg – Air-row Sheet Metal Company employees pride themselves on being able to make “anything out of metal.” To prove the point, Metal Fabricator Maurice Edgar, assisted by John Heffner and Brian Rogers, fashioned a tin man to sit on top of Air-Row’s new sign at the head of Snooks Road near the Regional Airport. The sign features the HVAC and metal fabrication company’s identity developed by Marketing Solutions Inc. According to President Dale Householder, “Air-Row’s tin man has an important purpose other than decoration. We are using it as a contest theme for 5th grade classes within the Berkeley County School System. Air-Row Sheet Metal Company is sponsoring a Name the Tin Man and Essay Contest to draw students’ focus on the important “of having a heart.” The student are asked to name the tin man and also to write a short essay on “why it’s important to have a heart” and illustrate it. The teachers will use the Wizard of Oz plot to explain the connection between the tin man and his quest for a heart. The winning entry will receive $250 for his or her class to use on an educational field trip or for other educational supplies as the teacher sees fit. The individual with the winning entry will receive a $50 to use for Christmas gifts or as he or she sees fit. Entry forms will be distributed to fifth graders in the schools that participate during the second week of October. The deadline for receiving entries back at the School Board office is November 1, 2004 and the Awards Ceremony with be held November 19 at the winner’s school The employees of Air-Row Sheet Metal Company will decide on the winning entry and all entries will become the sponsor’s property.
